Stock markets across Asia have been mixed today (March 13th), following the release of additional economic data out of China.
Over the weekend it was revealed the country's exports declined sharply in January, leading to fears regarding the health of its economy and weighing on investor confidence.
Data published during today's session showed China's industrial production increased at an annual pace of 8.6 per cent for the first two months of 2014. This is below the consensus estimate for a 9.5 per cent rise.
Separately, it was also revealed retail sales in the country advanced by a below-estimate 11.8 per cent over the same period.
Following the release of the data, Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined by 0.6 per cent, while the Shanghai Composite closed up by 1.07 per cent.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index ended the session down by 0.1 per cent at 14,815.98 points, extending the 2.6 per cent slide experienced in the previous session.
