Midday Movers: Boeing, Apple, NIO and More

By Liz Moyer

Investing.com -- U.S. stocks weakened on Monday after notching gains for July. Here are the midday movers for Aug. 1:

  • Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) shares rose 6% after a report the Federal Aviation Administration approved its plan for validating repairs on its 787 Dreamliner, allowing it to restart deliveries of the jets.

  • Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares dipped 0.5% after it announced another bond sale, this time in four parts with various maturities, for general corporate purposes including paying dividends and buying back stock.
  • Nio Inc (NYSE:NIO) and Li Auto Inc (NASDAQ:LI) shares rose 2.3% and 2.5%, respectively, after the Chinese electric vehicle rivals both reported a rise in July deliveries.
  • DraftKings Inc (NASDAQ:DKNG) shares rose 1.4% as Massachusetts was poised to become the latest state to allow sports betting. ESPN reported the legislature came to an agreement Monday that allows licensed sportsbooks to offer sports betting with some restrictions.
  • Weber Inc (NYSE:WEBR) stock fell 3.3% after UBS cut its rating to sell from neutral, saying the pandemic surge in grill purchases is subsiding and the future looks more challenging. Falling home purchases are also pressuring the outlook.
