Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.09%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food&Beverages, Insurance and Technology sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Financial Services and Transportation&Logistics sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.09%, while the MDAX index added 0.52%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.95%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which rose 5.55% or 0.46 points to trade at 8.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) added 2.06% or 3.15 points to end at 155.95 and Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) was up 1.99% or 5.00 points to 256.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG), which fell 4.68% or 1.59 points to trade at 32.37 at the close. Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) declined 3.09% or 0.82 points to end at 25.72 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) was down 2.48% or 1.42 points to 55.76.

The top performers on the MDAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) which rose 5.44% to 7.25, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 3.78% to settle at 24.96 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 3.58% to close at 40.25.

The worst performers were Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was down 3.86% to 35.86 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG (ETR:DWNG) which lost 3.73% to settle at 22.21 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which was down 3.68% to 8.64 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 4.97% to 53.85, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 3.78% to settle at 24.96 and Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which gained 3.58% to close at 40.25.

The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was down 3.53% to 2.43 in late trade, 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which lost 2.38% to settle at 15.59 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 1.29% to 21.42 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 373 to 290 and 91 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.68% or 1.59 to 32.37. Shares in Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.09% or 0.82 to 25.72. Shares in Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.86% or 1.44 to 35.86. Shares in Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.68% or 0.33 to 8.64. Shares in 11 AG (ETR:1U1) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.38% or 0.38 to 15.59. Shares in United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) fell to 5-year lows; falling 1.29% or 0.28 to 21.42.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.80% to 26.86.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.51% or 8.75 to $1,719.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.70% or 2.21 to hit $84.15 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.91% or 1.68 to trade at $89.68 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.00, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 109.72.
