U.S. stocks lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.32%

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil&Gas, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.32%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.75%, and the NASDAQ Composite index fell 1.04%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA), which rose 4.33% or 1.32 points to trade at 31.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck&Company Inc (NYSE:MRK) added 3.30% or 2.89 points to end at 90.49 and Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) was up 1.61% or 2.09 points to 131.88 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM), which fell 3.09% or 4.65 points to trade at 145.64 at the close. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) declined 2.13% or 4.99 points to end at 229.25 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) was down 2.05% or 1.99 points to 95.17.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) which rose 4.33% to 31.84, Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:MRNA) which was up 3.44% to settle at 123.42 and McCormick&Company Incorporated (NYSE:MKC) which gained 3.31% to close at 75.87.

The worst performers were Wynn Resorts Limited (NASDAQ:WYNN) which was down 12.25% to 64.14 in late trade, Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc (NYSE:BIO) which lost 8.33% to settle at 393.19 and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:NCLH) which was down 7.91% to 11.88 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Applied DNA Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:APDN) which rose 70.97% to 2.12, Immunic Inc (NASDAQ:IMUX) which was up 56.57% to settle at 6.20 and Green Giant Inc (NASDAQ:GGE) which gained 38.65% to close at 2.26.

The worst performers were Siyata Mobile Inc (NASDAQ:SYTA) which was down 59.33% to 0.12 in late trade, Minim Inc (NASDAQ:MINM) which lost 29.38% to settle at 0.23 and Acm Research Inc (NASDAQ:ACMR) which was down 26.50% to 9.04 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2019 to 1049 and 101 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2302 fell and 1472 advanced, while 162 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc (NYSE:BIO) fell to 52-week lows; down 8.33% or 35.74 to 393.19. Shares in Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.13% or 4.99 to 229.25. Shares in Siyata Mobile Inc (NASDAQ:SYTA) fell to all time lows; falling 59.33% or 0.18 to 0.12. Shares in Acm Research Inc (NASDAQ:ACMR) fell to 52-week lows; down 26.50% or 3.26 to 9.04.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 3.48% to 32.45.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.01% or 34.40 to $1,674.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.92% or 1.78 to hit $90.86 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.10% or 2.06 to trade at $95.86 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 0.97, while USD/JPY rose 0.27% to 145.73.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 113.09.
