Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.72%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Construction, Technology and Software sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.72%, while the MDAX index lost 1.06%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.03%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG), which rose 1.54% or 0.64 points to trade at 42.28 at the close. Meanwhile, Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) added 1.26% or 2.30 points to end at 185.35 and Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) was up 0.99% or 3.00 points to 306.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG), which fell 3.68% or 1.14 points to trade at 29.83 at the close. Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) declined 3.24% or 1.65 points to end at 49.25 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) was down 3.18% or 11.70 points to 356.30.

The top performers on the MDAX were Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which rose 1.91% to 43.66, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was up 1.70% to settle at 2.28 and Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which gained 1.48% to close at 583.50.

The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was down 7.48% to 65.55 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 5.37% to settle at 16.03 and Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which was down 4.67% to 27.13 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which rose 1.77% to 65.95, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was up 1.70% to settle at 2.28 and Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which gained 0.52% to close at 116.00.

The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was down 5.43% to 26.46 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which lost 5.39% to settle at 29.12 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 5.37% to 16.03 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 495 to 176 and 88 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.26% or 2.30 to 185.35. Shares in Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) rose to all time highs; rising 0.99% or 3.00 to 306.50. Shares in SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.77% or 1.15 to 65.95.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.13% to 21.45.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.12% or 2.15 to $1,783.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 4.43% or 3.41 to hit $73.52 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 4.62% or 3.82 to trade at $78.86 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 105.43.
