
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 3.09% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 2.95%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which rose 1.35% or 0.21 points to trade at 15.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 0.04% or 0.05 points to end at 119.70 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was unchanged 0.02% or 0.00 points to 9.27 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (EPA:WLN), which fell 6.77% or 2.77 points to trade at 38.14 at the close. Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) declined 5.57% or 29.20 points to end at 495.50 and Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) was down 5.01% or 79.00 points to 1,499.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) which rose 1.35% to 15.81, Dassault Aviation SA (EPA:AM) which was up 1.02% to settle at 158.00 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (EPA:GTT) which gained 0.96% to close at 105.20.
The worst performers were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 8.63% to 8.68 in late trade, Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which lost 6.77% to settle at 38.14 and Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 5.74% to 6.37 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 402 to 137 and 89 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.76% or 31.95 to $1,786.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.36% or 0.28 to hit $77.00 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.61 to trade at $82.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP rose 1.38% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.99% at 104.43.
