
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Gas&Water, General Financial and Foods&Drugs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 3.58% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index declined 3.58%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which rose 0.89% or 0.79 points to trade at 89.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) added 0.60% or 0.06 points to end at 10.74 and Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) was down 0.22% or 0.50 points to 223.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which fell 12.18% or 2.98 points to trade at 21.50 at the close. Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) declined 10.45% or 2.71 points to end at 23.23 and BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) was down 10.11% or 5.85 points to 52.03.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Bollore SA (EPA:BOLL) which rose 8.28% to 5.55, Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) which was up 0.89% to settle at 89.77 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) which gained 0.60% to close at 10.74.
The worst performers were CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which was down 14.83% to 0.71 in late trade, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which lost 13.90% to settle at 11.30 and Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) which was down 12.18% to 21.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 474 to 85 and 71 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bollore SA (EPA:BOLL) rose to all time highs; up 8.28% or 0.43 to 5.55.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.95% or 18.20 to $1,929.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 5.65% or 4.03 to hit $67.30 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 5.18% or 4.01 to trade at $73.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.63% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP fell 0.79% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.21% at 104.46.
