Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.59%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transportation&Logistics, Food&Beverages and Retail sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.59% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index added 0.49%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.01%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which rose 3.54% or 8.30 points to trade at 242.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) added 3.35% or 0.34 points to end at 10.34 and Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) was up 2.87% or 2.02 points to 72.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which fell 1.11% or 0.24 points to trade at 21.30 at the close. Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) declined 1.03% or 1.70 points to end at 163.30 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was down 0.93% or 0.39 points to 41.67.

The top performers on the MDAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which rose 5.10% to 7.70, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was up 3.69% to settle at 33.73 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which gained 2.00% to close at 23.99.

The worst performers were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 4.34% to 1.30 in late trade, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which lost 4.13% to settle at 8.96 and Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which was down 3.10% to 15.14 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Software AG (ETR:SOWGn) which rose 2.27% to 19.81, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 1.57% to settle at 29.10 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which gained 1.28% to close at 36.71.

The worst performers were ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was down 4.13% to 8.96 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 2.36% to settle at 18.60 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 1.82% to 123.75 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 382 to 279 and 89 ended unchanged.

Shares in Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.10% or 0.49 to 15.14. Shares in ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) fell to all time lows; losing 4.13% or 0.39 to 8.96.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.52% to 16.72.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.62% or 12.45 to $2,019.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.66% or 0.53 to hit $81.36 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.61% or 0.52 to trade at $85.28 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 101.45.
