Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.97%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Retail, Financial Services and Insurance sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.97%, while the MDAX index added 1.00%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.13%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which rose 5.12% or 1.17 points to trade at 24.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 4.20% or 0.52 points to end at 12.91 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was up 3.00% or 4.80 points to 164.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p), which fell 2.37% or 2.36 points to trade at 97.28 at the close. Henkel&Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) declined 1.98% or 1.38 points to end at 68.26 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) was down 1.46% or 1.42 points to 95.92.

The top performers on the MDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which rose 5.49% to 12.00, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was up 5.01% to settle at 30.91 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which gained 4.22% to close at 22.72.

The worst performers were Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which was down 2.00% to 611.00 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 1.42% to settle at 83.44 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which was down 1.32% to 63.65 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which rose 5.49% to 12.00, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 4.52% to settle at 19.87 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which gained 4.22% to close at 22.72.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 1.42% to 83.44 in late trade, Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which lost 1.03% to settle at 18.26 and Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 0.47% to 212.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 424 to 212 and 100 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 11.37% to 13.80 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.55 to $1,931.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.11% or 1.87 to hit $90.39 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.10% or 1.93 to trade at $93.81 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 104.96.
