Investing.com -- Unity Software said Monday that John Riccitiello will retire as chief executive officer and chairman.
Unity Software Inc (NYSE:U) was down nearly 2% in aftermarket hours following the news.
James M. Whitehurst had been appointed interim CEO, while lead independent director Roelof Botha had been appointed Chairman.
The announcement comes as the video games maker was recently forced to amend plans to launch a "Unity Runtime Fee", a pay-per-install pricing model -- based on amount of a sales game generates and number of installs above a certain threshold.
After receiving backlash from developers and the wider gaming community over the plans, the company introduced a revamped pricing model, keeping its Unity Personal plan free with no Runtime Fee for games built on Unity Personal.
