
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Public Sector Undertakings and Oil&Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.40%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 2.17% or 7.55 points to trade at 354.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 2.07% or 4.20 points to end at 207.25 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was up 1.76% or 5.50 points to 317.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which fell 1.53% or 10.20 points to trade at 656.00 at the close. Larsen&Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) declined 1.09% or 33.90 points to end at 3,068.00 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was down 0.89% or 5.60 points to 625.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 1.97% to 207.05, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 1.22% to settle at 1,771.50 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 1.17% to close at 1,197.40.
The worst performers were Larsen&Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 1.21% to 3,066.00 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 0.84% to settle at 1,434.70 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 0.50% to 3,506.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1253 to 793 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2089 rose and 1475 declined, while 131 ended unchanged.
Shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.07% or 4.20 to 207.25. Shares in Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.76% or 5.50 to 317.50. Shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) rose to all time highs; up 1.97% or 4.00 to 207.05.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.39% to 10.69.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.09% or 1.65 to $1,935.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.13% or 0.11 to hit $85.37 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.22 to trade at $89.87 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.05% to 83.24, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 87.80.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 106.18.
