
Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Metals, Oil&Gas and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.24%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA), which rose 6.57% or 337.65 points to trade at 5,475.00 at the close. Meanwhile, LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) added 6.01% or 309.80 points to end at 5,465.00 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) was up 3.80% or 119.85 points to 3,273.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR), which fell 3.04% or 12.40 points to trade at 395.05 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 1.52% or 18.10 points to end at 1,169.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was down 1.46% or 16.80 points to 1,136.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which rose 5.88% to 5,460.00, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was up 3.66% to settle at 24,122.00 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which gained 2.83% to close at 8,514.80.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 2.99% to 395.20 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 1.29% to settle at 1,170.70 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.10% to 239.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1032 to 1007 and 61 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1810 rose and 1755 declined, while 131 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) rose to all time highs; gaining 6.57% or 337.65 to 5,475.00. Shares in Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.80% or 119.85 to 3,273.00. Shares in Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) rose to all time highs; rising 3.66% or 852.35 to 24,122.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.62% to 10.90.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.28% or 5.50 to $1,962.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.17% or 1.02 to hit $86.25 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 1.19 to trade at $90.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 83.24, while EUR/INR rose 0.05% to 87.81.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 106.31.
