Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.16%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Construction, Consumer&Cyclical and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.16%, while the MDAX index fell 0.76%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.27%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG), which rose 2.63% or 3.70 points to trade at 144.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG) added 1.76% or 1.34 points to end at 77.36 and BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) was up 1.47% or 0.65 points to 45.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG), which fell 4.14% or 0.47 points to trade at 11.00 at the close. Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) declined 3.35% or 0.75 points to end at 21.67 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was down 2.99% or 5.90 points to 191.10.

The top performers on the MDAX were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which rose 2.35% to 15.87, Scout24 AG (ETR:G24n) which was up 2.11% to settle at 64.92 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (ETR:FPE3_p) which gained 2.08% to close at 39.22.

The worst performers were Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which was down 5.64% to 55.84 in late trade, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which lost 5.38% to settle at 6.43 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was down 3.71% to 108.95 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which rose 2.08% to 27.42, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 1.19% to settle at 23.90 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which gained 1.13% to close at 295.10.

The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 5.78% to 28.05 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 3.33% to settle at 10.00 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 3.07% to 24.97 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 392 to 238 and 31 ended unchanged.

Shares in Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.71% or 4.20 to 108.95. Shares in Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.78% or 1.72 to 28.05.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.00% to 14.07.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.43% or 8.85 to $2,039.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $69.32 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.21 to trade at $74.09 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 103.68.
