
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Power and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.66%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which rose 4.21% or 311.10 points to trade at 7,695.90 at the close. Meanwhile, NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) added 3.61% or 11.05 points to end at 317.25 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) was up 3.57% or 38.70 points to 1,123.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which fell 1.68% or 99.45 points to trade at 5,832.45 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) declined 1.55% or 7.15 points to end at 453.90 and LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) was down 1.41% or 84.05 points to 5,877.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 4.44% to 7,709.95, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 3.54% to settle at 317.10 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 2.93% to close at 1,648.50.
The worst performers were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 1.70% to 5,830.00 in late trade, LTIMindtree Ltd (BO:LTIM) which lost 1.52% to settle at 5,869.15 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 1.18% to 1,420.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1446 to 688 and 42 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2466 rose and 1236 declined, while 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) rose to all time highs; rising 3.61% or 11.05 to 317.25. Shares in Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.57% or 38.70 to 1,123.65. Shares in NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) rose to all time highs; up 3.54% or 10.85 to 317.10. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.93% or 46.90 to 1,648.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.44% to 13.33.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.67% or 13.65 to $2,056.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.14% or 0.83 to hit $73.53 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.72 to trade at $78.97 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 83.24, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 91.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 101.93.
