Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.84%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Retail and Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.84% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index lost 1.74%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.11%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn), which rose 2.61% or 10.00 points to trade at 392.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 1.69% or 5.40 points to end at 325.80 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) was up 1.15% or 0.13 points to 11.01 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which fell 5.09% or 0.88 points to trade at 16.32 at the close. Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) declined 3.77% or 6.48 points to end at 165.52 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was down 3.45% or 0.41 points to 11.33.

The top performers on the MDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 2.09% to 28.30, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was up 0.97% to settle at 12.46 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which gained 0.92% to close at 65.55.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 7.95% to 45.60 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 6.08% to settle at 9.17 and Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which was down 5.23% to 13.05 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 6.55% to 40.26, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 2.09% to settle at 28.30 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which gained 0.84% to close at 38.28.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 7.95% to 45.60 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which lost 6.29% to settle at 19.67 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 6.08% to 9.17 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 460 to 153 and 24 ended unchanged.

Shares in Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) fell to all time lows; losing 5.09% or 0.88 to 16.32. Shares in Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) rose to all time highs; rising 1.69% or 5.40 to 325.80. Shares in SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.95% or 3.94 to 45.60. Shares in Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.08% or 0.59 to 9.17. Shares in Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.55% or 2.47 to 40.26. Shares in SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.95% or 3.94 to 45.60. Shares in Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) fell to 3-years lows; falling 6.29% or 1.32 to 19.67. Shares in Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.08% or 0.59 to 9.17.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.82% to 14.91.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.09% or 22.05 to $2,008.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.25% or 0.91 to hit $71.61 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 1.20 to trade at $77.09 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 103.31.
