Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.83%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Software and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.83%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.20%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.38%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which rose 4.81% or 1.57 points to trade at 34.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 3.44% or 0.39 points to end at 11.72 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) was up 2.58% or 8.40 points to 334.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which fell 2.06% or 0.69 points to trade at 32.52 at the close. E.ON SE (ETR:EONGn) declined 1.68% or 0.21 points to end at 12.32 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was down 0.77% or 0.32 points to 41.00.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 5.15% to 34.33, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was up 5.00% to settle at 47.88 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which gained 4.65% to close at 27.90.

The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 12.47% to 58.03 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which lost 3.13% to settle at 12.07 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 3.04% to 13.08 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 5.15% to 34.33, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was up 5.00% to settle at 47.88 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which gained 4.81% to close at 34.10.

The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 7.40% to 37.94 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which lost 4.07% to settle at 18.87 and TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 3.04% to 13.08 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 382 to 238 and 37 ended unchanged.

Shares in Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) rose to all time highs; up 2.58% or 8.40 to 334.20. Shares in HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) fell to 3-years lows; losing 3.13% or 0.39 to 12.07. Shares in Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.07% or 0.80 to 18.87.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.29% to 14.27.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.48% or 9.55 to $2,016.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.92% or 1.39 to hit $73.87 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.48% or 1.15 to trade at $79.03 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 103.37.
