
Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Oil&Gas and Metals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.75%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which rose 3.55% or 8.30 points to trade at 241.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 3.26% or 35.40 points to end at 1,122.45 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 3.09% or 9.25 points to 308.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which fell 3.25% or 52.40 points to trade at 1,560.50 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) declined 0.92% or 16.35 points to end at 1,760.90 and HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) was down 0.82% or 12.15 points to 1,474.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 3.25% to 1,122.00, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 3.21% to settle at 308.95 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 2.56% to close at 1,390.00.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 3.24% to 1,560.85 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which lost 1.08% to settle at 1,470.70 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 0.66% to 1,765.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1418 to 701 and 49 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2356 rose and 1314 declined, while 102 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) rose to 5-year highs; rising 3.55% or 8.30 to 241.85. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) rose to all time highs; up 3.26% or 35.40 to 1,122.45. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.25% or 35.30 to 1,122.00. Shares in Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.56% or 34.75 to 1,390.00.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.37% to 13.88.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.50% or 10.15 to $2,031.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.77% or 0.57 to hit $74.52 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.70% or 0.55 to trade at $79.65 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 83.08, while EUR/INR fell 0.09% to 90.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 103.18.
