Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.18%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Food&Beverages and Media sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.18% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index fell 0.34%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.29%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 2.85% or 9.30 points to trade at 335.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG) added 2.48% or 2.12 points to end at 87.46 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) was up 2.09% or 0.70 points to 34.22 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which fell 2.37% or 0.47 points to trade at 19.19 at the close. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) declined 2.35% or 5.20 points to end at 216.00 and Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) was down 2.16% or 0.67 points to 30.08.

The top performers on the MDAX were Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which rose 3.75% to 65.10, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was up 2.77% to settle at 86.90 and Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which gained 2.03% to close at 130.80.

The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 5.33% to 21.39 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which lost 3.85% to settle at 28.46 and Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (ETR:JUNG_p) which was down 3.42% to 30.46 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 2.85% to 335.30, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was up 2.77% to settle at 86.90 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which gained 2.14% to close at 40.02.

The worst performers were ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which was down 6.93% to 6.07 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which lost 3.85% to settle at 28.46 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 1.66% to 47.38 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 309 to 301 and 20 ended unchanged.

Shares in Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.48% or 2.12 to 87.46. Shares in Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.16% or 0.67 to 30.08. Shares in Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.77% or 2.34 to 86.90. Shares in Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.77% or 2.34 to 86.90.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.41% to 13.67.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.46% or 9.45 to $2,054.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.43% or 1.10 to hit $77.88 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.73 to trade at $82.56 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 103.25.
