
Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Capital Goods, Real Estate and Metals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which rose 4.09% or 416.30 points to trade at 10,603.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 2.68% or 6.95 points to end at 266.25 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) was up 2.44% or 32.90 points to 1,383.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which fell 2.60% or 56.65 points to trade at 2,118.35 at the close. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) declined 2.34% or 237.45 points to end at 9,929.90 and Larsen&Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) was down 2.32% or 80.75 points to 3,399.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 4.08% to 10,598.30, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.49% to settle at 265.80 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 1.57% to close at 1,084.20.
The worst performers were Larsen&Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 2.36% to 3,398.00 in late trade, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which lost 2.26% to settle at 9,938.00 and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was down 2.15% to 5,989.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1246 to 893 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1977 fell and 1722 advanced, while 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.68% or 6.95 to 266.25. Shares in Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.49% or 6.45 to 265.80.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 9.92% to 14.45.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.60% or 12.35 to $2,055.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.90% or 0.68 to hit $76.53 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.69 to trade at $81.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.12% to 82.98, while EUR/INR fell 0.33% to 89.60.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 103.56.
