
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.22% to hit a new all time high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which rose 4.93% or 0.77 points to trade at 16.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) added 4.41% or 0.51 points to end at 11.95 and Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) was up 1.54% or 2.40 points to 158.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN), which fell 11.46% or 6.46 points to trade at 49.90 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) declined 0.82% or 0.36 points to end at 42.75 and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) was down 0.80% or 0.56 points to 69.08.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which rose 18.44% to 1.74, Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which was up 9.31% to settle at 13.86 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) which gained 4.93% to close at 16.48.
The worst performers were Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) which was down 11.46% to 49.90 in late trade, Alten SA (EPA:LTEN) which lost 4.58% to settle at 137.50 and Lectra SA (EPA:LECS) which was down 3.21% to 31.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 266 to 244 and 109 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.25% or 5.05 to $2,034.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.06% or 0.82 to hit $77.86 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.63 to trade at $82.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 103.97.
