Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.76%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Retail, Software and Food&Beverages sectors led shares higher while losses in the Industrials, Construction and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.76%, while the MDAX index gained 0.19%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.52%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn), which rose 1.88% or 8.40 points to trade at 454.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) added 1.72% or 2.85 points to end at 168.70 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) was up 1.57% or 0.84 points to 54.32 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn), which fell 6.77% or 12.70 points to trade at 175.00 at the close. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) declined 6.26% or 6.44 points to end at 96.46 and Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) was down 5.29% or 2.18 points to 39.02.

The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (ETR:SAXG) which rose 4.91% to 65.20, Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which was up 4.34% to settle at 72.05 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which gained 3.60% to close at 32.22.

The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was down 3.76% to 23.02 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 2.80% to settle at 14.56 and Evonik Industries AG (ETR:EVKn) which was down 2.27% to 20.24 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which rose 3.88% to 53.60, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was up 1.62% to settle at 69.05 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which gained 1.57% to close at 54.32.

The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which was down 5.22% to 277.60 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which lost 3.76% to settle at 23.02 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 2.80% to 14.56 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 313 to 311 and 29 ended unchanged.

Shares in Stroeer SE (ETR:SAXG) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.91% or 3.05 to 65.20. Shares in Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.88% or 2.00 to 53.60. Shares in Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.62% or 1.10 to 69.05.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.48% to 13.99.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.42% or 9.95 to $2,384.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.84% or 0.66 to hit $79.29 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.48 to trade at $83.23 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 104.35.
