
Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, IT and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK), which rose 1.54% or 23.00 points to trade at 1,515.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) added 1.12% or 15.45 points to end at 1,389.50 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 1.12% or 7.25 points to 654.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which fell 1.83% or 26.45 points to trade at 1,416.90 at the close. Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) declined 1.65% or 18.45 points to end at 1,099.50 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was down 1.42% or 18.95 points to 1,318.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which rose 1.56% to 1,515.45, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was up 1.12% to settle at 1,389.40 and Larsen&Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which gained 0.93% to close at 3,619.60.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 1.33% to 1,319.95 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which lost 1.21% to settle at 2,867.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.16% to 3,850.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1335 to 858 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2098 fell and 1604 advanced, while 97 ended unchanged.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.54% to 21.71.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.34% or 7.95 to $2,345.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.85% or 0.65 to hit $76.22 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.75% or 0.61 to trade at $80.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.21% to 83.11, while EUR/INR rose 0.04% to 90.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 104.78.
