Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX up 0.57%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Food&Beverages and Chemicals sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Media sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.57% to hit a new 3-months high, while the MDAX index lost 0.29%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.32%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G), which rose 3.30% or 3.75 points to trade at 117.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) added 3.08% or 1.66 points to end at 55.50 and Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) was up 1.83% or 8.80 points to 490.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which fell 2.60% or 0.64 points to trade at 23.99 at the close. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) declined 1.46% or 1.24 points to end at 83.54 and Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) was down 0.67% or 0.42 points to 62.14.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which rose 5.24% to 2.39, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 4.48% to settle at 34.48 and Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) which gained 1.27% to close at 111.90.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 5.40% to 6.39 in late trade, Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which lost 3.48% to settle at 38.80 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 3.15% to 38.70 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 4.48% to 34.48, 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which was up 1.41% to settle at 14.34 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which gained 1.40% to close at 52.14.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 5.40% to 6.39 in late trade, Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which lost 2.43% to settle at 56.30 and Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 2.39% to 138.60 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 325 to 276 and 32 ended unchanged.

Shares in Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.30% or 3.75 to 117.45. Shares in Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.08% or 1.66 to 55.50. Shares in Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) rose to all time highs; up 1.83% or 8.80 to 490.30. Shares in Stabilus (ETR:STM1) fell to 3-years lows; losing 3.48% or 1.40 to 38.80. Shares in Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) rose to 3-years highs; up 1.27% or 1.40 to 111.90. Shares in Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.43% or 1.40 to 56.30.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.55% to 14.16.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.50% or 12.70 to $2,540.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.11% or 0.84 to hit $74.69 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.87 to trade at $77.79 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 100.96.
