U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 1.05%
Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemicals, Travel&Leisure and Support Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which rose 5.29% or 33.80 points to trade at 673.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) added 4.15% or 18.80 points to end at 472.10 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 3.84% or 615.00 points to 16,650.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which fell 4.86% or 29.40 points to trade at 575.00 at the close. Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) declined 1.40% or 15.00 points to end at 1,058.50 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) was down 1.15% or 52.00 points to 4,486.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1083 to 686 and 704 ended unchanged.
Shares in Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.86% or 29.40 to 575.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 5.15 to $2,529.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.15% or 0.78 to hit $68.45 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.55 to trade at $71.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 101.53.
