Adidas AG is a multinational corporation, founded and headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany. The company manufactures, produces and sells sports shoes and sports equipment, footwear, sports apparel, as well as golf clubs and balls globally.
Adidas AG, has been stylised as "Adidɑs" since 1949 and is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe and the second largest in the world. The company was founded in 1924 by Adolf Dassler.
The Adidas logo consisting of three stripes, which is used in order to assist in marketing the brand, is made visible on the company's clothing and shoe designs. The branding, which Adidas bought in 1952 from a Finnish sports company called Karhu Sports, became so successful that Dassler described Adidas as "The three stripes company".
