6th March 2014
Asian markets have edged up ahead of the release of US jobs data tomorrow (March 7th).
The Nikkei has gained 1.59 per cent, rising to 15,134.75, while the Hang Seng index is up 0.55 per cent to 22,702.97.
Payroll processor ADP has told Reuters tomorrow's figures will show fewer workers were added to the US private sector than expected in February. It will also be revealed that services industry growth slowed.
However, much of this disappointing performance is likely to be attributed to the cold weather conditions that affected large parts of the US throughout the month.
European markets have edged up, with the FTSE 100 rising 0.06 per cent as of 11:00 GMT. Meanwhile, the Euro Stoxx 50 is up 0.28 per cent.
Investors in both markets will be awaiting the European Central Bank's policy statement later today.
