
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.68% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM), which rose 5.16% or 1.83 points to trade at 37.27 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 4.50% or 2.98 points to end at 69.14 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was up 4.40% or 0.70 points to 16.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN), which fell 1.72% or 0.44 points to trade at 25.07 at the close. Renault SA (EPA:RENA) declined 1.54% or 0.56 points to end at 35.59 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was down 1.16% or 1.35 points to 114.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 7.80% to 11.88, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was up 7.08% to settle at 7.05 and Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which gained 5.45% to close at 91.00.
The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was down 3.33% to 24.93 in late trade, Ipsos (EPA:ISOS) which lost 2.68% to settle at 58.10 and Television Francaise 1 SA (EPA:TFFP) which was down 2.32% to 7.16 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 347 to 214 and 85 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.33% or 0.86 to 24.93.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.36% or 6.65 to $1,876.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.53% or 1.13 to hit $74.90 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 1.02 to trade at $79.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.00% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.83% at 102.78.
