
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil&Gas and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.70%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH), which rose 2.43% or 16.40 points to trade at 690.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) added 2.04% or 29.50 points to end at 1,472.50 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) was up 1.53% or 1.80 points to 119.36 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM), which fell 1.07% or 0.36 points to trade at 33.24 at the close. Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) declined 0.87% or 0.14 points to end at 15.90 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was down 0.63% or 0.57 points to 90.41.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were SCOR SE (EPA:SCOR) which rose 3.03% to 22.11, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) which was up 2.43% to settle at 690.20 and Fnac Darty SA (EPA:FNAC) which gained 2.21% to close at 34.18.
The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 3.88% to 6.30 in late trade, Carmila SA (EPA:CARM) which lost 2.98% to settle at 13.04 and Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which was down 2.72% to 13.59 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 296 to 276 and 69 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.99% or 17.80 to $1,822.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.60% or 1.27 to hit $80.83 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.62% or 1.37 to trade at $85.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.49% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 103.92.
