
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil&Gas, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.39%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.38%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 6.40% or 2.85 points to trade at 47.36 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 3.07% or 0.81 points to end at 27.23 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) was up 2.87% or 0.77 points to 27.62 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (EPA:ORAN), which fell 0.50% or 0.05 points to trade at 10.80 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) added 0.25% or 0.09 points to end at 36.13 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was up 0.42% or 0.26 points to 61.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which rose 6.40% to 47.36, Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was up 5.82% to settle at 23.27 and Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which gained 5.18% to close at 117.70.
The worst performers were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 16.75% to 10.71 in late trade, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which lost 7.12% to settle at 1.81 and Technip Energies BV (EPA:TE) which was down 1.65% to 19.11 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 314 to 234 and 79 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.35% or 6.90 to $1,983.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $73.24 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.39 to trade at $77.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 102.41.
