
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Oil&Gas and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.57%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.58%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 4.68% or 2.08 points to trade at 46.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) added 3.22% or 4.80 points to end at 153.65 and AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) was up 3.06% or 0.79 points to 26.61 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which fell 0.77% or 0.73 points to trade at 93.64 at the close. Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) declined 0.15% or 0.05 points to end at 34.27 and Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) was up 0.27% or 0.08 points to 29.79.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which rose 10.75% to 3.32, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was up 6.59% to settle at 161.80 and STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which gained 4.68% to close at 46.48.
The worst performers were Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which was down 3.80% to 1.63 in late trade, Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) which lost 0.77% to settle at 93.64 and Sodexo SA (EPA:EXHO) which was down 0.43% to 96.80 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 317 to 195 and 109 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.42% or 27.45 to $1,964.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.87% or 0.65 to hit $75.48 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.44 to trade at $79.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.14% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP rose 0.63% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.14% at 100.25.
