
Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Gas&Water, General Financial and Foods&Drugs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 2.77% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 2.66%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (EPA:PRTP), which rose 7.07% or 33.25 points to trade at 503.40 at the close. Meanwhile, L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) added 6.78% or 20.40 points to end at 321.40 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 6.48% or 1.43 points to 23.51 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which fell 2.60% or 3.35 points to trade at 125.35 at the close. AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) added 0.19% or 0.05 points to end at 25.91 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was up 0.55% or 0.48 points to 87.88.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were JC Decaux SA (EPA:JCDX) which rose 14.34% to 14.75, Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which was up 10.01% to settle at 75.80 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which gained 9.02% to close at 28.29.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 3.03% to 8.39 in late trade, Thales (EPA:TCFP) which lost 2.60% to settle at 125.35 and Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 2.52% to 9.46 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 355 to 192 and 87 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.88% or 46.95 to $1,677.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 4.37% or 3.85 to hit $92.02 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.69% or 3.49 to trade at $98.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.77% to 0.99, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.56% at 111.04.
