
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Oil&Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.01%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS), which rose 1.52% or 27.80 points to trade at 1,854.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) added 1.23% or 0.52 points to end at 42.77 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) was up 1.14% or 1.84 points to 163.62 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB), which fell 2.86% or 1.85 points to trade at 62.77 at the close. Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) declined 1.76% or 0.21 points to end at 11.70 and Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) was down 1.50% or 1.95 points to 128.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which unchanged 3.45% to 0.02, JC Decaux SA (EPA:JCDX) which was up 3.28% to settle at 18.24 and Coface (EPA:COFA) which gained 2.10% to close at 12.16.
The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 5.62% to 4.56 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which lost 5.00% to settle at 12.69 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which was down 3.98% to 14.24 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 318 to 212 and 73 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.02% or 0.45 to $2,032.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $72.32 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.10 to trade at $77.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 102.15.
