Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil&Gas, Basic Materials and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.39%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Orange SA (EPA:ORAN), which rose 2.60% or 0.29 points to trade at 11.28 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) added 2.08% or 3.40 points to end at 166.90 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was up 1.81% or 1.80 points to 101.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD), which fell 4.55% or 3.76 points to trade at 78.94 at the close. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) declined 4.52% or 2.34 points to end at 49.38 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was down 4.21% or 1.62 points to 36.76.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sodexo SA (EPA:EXHO) which rose 11.30% to 100.55, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which was up 5.40% to settle at 287.00 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) which gained 2.60% to close at 11.28.
The worst performers were Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 7.29% to 18.75 in late trade, Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which lost 7.08% to settle at 82.05 and Rexel (EPA:RXL) which was down 6.72% to 19.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 347 to 193 and 89 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sodexo SA (EPA:EXHO) rose to 3-years highs; up 11.30% or 10.21 to 100.55.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.04% or 0.75 to $2,037.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.24% or 0.19 to hit $80.52 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.02 to trade at $84.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.50% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 101.65.
