France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.42%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.42%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.44%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 1.98% or 2.35 points to trade at 120.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) added 1.58% or 1.55 points to end at 99.60 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was up 1.33% or 0.72 points to 54.98 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE), which fell 3.40% or 0.81 points to trade at 23.04 at the close. Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) declined 3.30% or 0.76 points to end at 22.28 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was down 2.31% or 0.61 points to 25.75.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Edenred SA (EPA:EDEN) which rose 3.58% to 48.57, Getlink SE (EPA:GETP) which was up 2.85% to settle at 19.69 and Aeroports de Paris SA (EPA:ADP) which gained 2.54% to close at 127.00.

The worst performers were Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) which was down 18.20% to 7.01 in late trade, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which lost 8.15% to settle at 137.55 and Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which was down 7.42% to 16.66 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 319 to 222 and 82 ended unchanged.

Shares in Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA:ETL) fell to all time lows; falling 18.20% or 1.56 to 7.01. Shares in Getlink SE (EPA:GETP) rose to all time highs; rising 2.85% or 0.55 to 19.69.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.09% or 1.60 to $1,717.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.95% or 0.92 to hit $95.78 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.23 to trade at $99.96 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.91% to 1.01, while EUR/GBP fell 0.73% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 107.00.
