France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.42%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.42% to hit a new all time low, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.37%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which rose 2.07% or 0.76 points to trade at 37.49 at the close. Meanwhile, AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) added 1.55% or 0.44 points to end at 28.58 and Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) was up 0.96% or 0.70 points to 73.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which fell 3.89% or 0.94 points to trade at 23.22 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 2.14% or 0.51 points to end at 23.50 and Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) was down 2.08% or 3.26 points to 153.38.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which rose 3.68% to 28.42, Accor SA (EPA:ACCP) which was up 2.29% to settle at 34.84 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) which gained 2.07% to close at 37.49.

The worst performers were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which was down 3.89% to 23.22 in late trade, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which lost 3.21% to settle at 11.92 and CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which was down 3.13% to 0.73 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 322 to 204 and 88 ended unchanged.

Shares in AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) rose to all time lows; gaining 1.55% or 0.44 to 28.58. Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) fell to all time lows; losing 2.14% or 0.51 to 23.50. Shares in Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) rose to all time lows; up 0.96% or 0.70 to 73.48. Shares in Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) fell to all time lows; falling 2.08% or 3.26 to 153.38. Shares in Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) rose to all time lows; up 3.68% or 1.01 to 28.42. Shares in Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) fell to all time lows; down 3.89% or 0.94 to 23.22. Shares in Accor SA (EPA:ACCP) rose to all time lows; gaining 2.29% or 0.78 to 34.84. Shares in Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) fell to all time lows; down 3.21% or 0.40 to 11.92. Shares in Renault SA (EPA:RENA) rose to all time lows; up 2.07% or 0.76 to 37.49. Shares in CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) fell to all time lows; falling 3.13% or 0.02 to 0.73.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new all time low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.18% or 3.45 to $1,931.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.15% or 0.13 to hit $88.71 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $92.00 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 104.31.
