
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil&Gas, Gas&Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.43%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were AXA SA (EPA:AXAF), which rose 2.21% or 0.53 points to trade at 24.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) added 2.14% or 0.45 points to end at 21.43 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) was up 1.43% or 0.27 points to 19.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB), which fell 3.25% or 1.33 points to trade at 39.44 at the close. Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) declined 2.46% or 1.10 points to end at 43.70 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) was down 1.75% or 11.10 points to 625.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which rose 9.88% to 14.18, Dassault Aviation SA (EPA:AM) which was up 2.90% to settle at 141.70 and Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which gained 2.89% to close at 1.50.
The worst performers were Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which was down 16.71% to 290.00 in late trade, Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) which lost 11.01% to settle at 242.50 and Derichebourg (EPA:DBG) which was down 6.83% to 4.31 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 297 to 228 and 93 ended unchanged.
Shares in Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 11.01% or 30.00 to 242.50.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.31% or 21.75 to $1,634.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.12% or 1.74 to hit $83.81 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.10% or 1.89 to trade at $91.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.87% to 0.98, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.79% at 112.88.
