Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Services and Oil&Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.51%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which rose 2.95% or 1.56 points to trade at 54.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) added 2.89% or 0.44 points to end at 15.84 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) was up 2.43% or 0.61 points to 25.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM), which fell 6.97% or 2.43 points to trade at 32.51 at the close. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) declined 3.41% or 4.52 points to end at 128.04 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) was down 3.04% or 1.09 points to 34.58.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which rose 15.72% to 10.05, Mercialys SA (EPA:MERY) which was up 3.97% to settle at 8.90 and Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which gained 3.86% to close at 14.79.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 15.33% to 8.32 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) which lost 6.97% to settle at 32.51 and Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which was down 5.18% to 12.07 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 279 to 244 and 97 ended unchanged.
Shares in Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 15.33% or 1.51 to 8.32.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.41% or 6.85 to $1,662.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.59% or 1.40 to hit $89.31 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.29% or 1.21 to trade at $95.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.96% to 1.00, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.50% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.65% at 110.26.
