Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.04%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.99%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which rose 2.74% or 0.84 points to trade at 31.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) added 1.69% or 0.88 points to end at 52.84 and Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) was up 1.18% or 0.29 points to 24.51 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST), which fell 4.07% or 1.54 points to trade at 36.41 at the close. Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) declined 3.98% or 7.10 points to end at 171.20 and Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) was down 3.86% or 50.00 points to 1,245.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Renault SA (EPA:RENA) which rose 2.74% to 31.45, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was up 2.58% to settle at 3.26 and Mercialys SA (EPA:MERY) which gained 2.44% to close at 7.97.
The worst performers were Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was down 6.57% to 10.02 in late trade, Quadient SA (EPA:QDT) which lost 5.67% to settle at 15.96 and Elis Services SA (EPA:ELIS) which was down 5.08% to 11.95 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 304 to 228 and 85 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.09% or 35.75 to $1,673.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.19% or 2.82 to hit $85.66 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.93% or 2.76 to trade at $91.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.00, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 109.33.
