
Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil&Gas and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 3.13% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index declined 3.04%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which fell 0.44% or 0.08 points to trade at 16.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) fell 0.94% or 0.27 points to end at 28.52 and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) was down 1.06% or 0.11 points to 10.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW), which fell 5.55% or 2.78 points to trade at 47.34 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) declined 5.12% or 2.33 points to end at 43.05 and Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) was down 4.79% or 92.60 points to 1,840.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which rose 1.44% to 3.11, Spie SA (EPA:SPIE) which was down 0.28% to settle at 28.74 and Technip Energies BV (EPA:TE) which lost 0.29% to close at 20.64.
The worst performers were Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) which was down 5.55% to 47.34 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which lost 5.12% to settle at 43.05 and Gecina SA (EPA:GFCP) which was down 4.89% to 94.35 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 393 to 140 and 76 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.60% or 11.55 to $1,915.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.36% or 0.26 to hit $71.53 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.40 to trade at $76.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 102.93.
