
Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Gas&Water, General Financial and Foods&Drugs sectors led shares higher while losses in the Oil&Gas, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.13%, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 3.70% or 1.44 points to trade at 40.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) added 2.65% or 3.40 points to end at 131.90 and Safran SA (EPA:SAF) was up 2.53% or 4.22 points to 171.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW), which fell 1.46% or 0.96 points to trade at 64.70 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) declined 1.41% or 2.05 points to end at 143.55 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was down 1.34% or 1.85 points to 136.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which rose 4.91% to 140.00, Rexel (EPA:RXL) which was up 4.04% to settle at 24.48 and Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which gained 3.95% to close at 2.68.
The worst performers were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was down 11.31% to 3.70 in late trade, ICADE (EPA:ICAD) which lost 3.56% to settle at 32.50 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which was down 3.01% to 23.53 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 266 to 233 and 102 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) fell to 3-years lows; down 1.41% or 2.05 to 143.55. Shares in Safran SA (EPA:SAF) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.53% or 4.22 to 171.04. Shares in Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) fell to all time lows; down 11.31% or 0.47 to 3.70.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.48% or 9.65 to $2,016.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.93% or 1.40 to hit $73.88 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 1.16 to trade at $79.04 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 103.35.
