
Investing.com – France stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.11%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP), which rose 1.35% or 1.10 points to trade at 82.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (EPA:SAF) added 1.21% or 2.00 points to end at 167.48 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) was up 0.98% or 0.44 points to 44.84 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which fell 2.34% or 0.27 points to trade at 11.08 at the close. Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) declined 1.79% or 1.14 points to end at 62.64 and Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) was down 1.53% or 0.26 points to 17.03.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which rose 7.37% to 22.14, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was unchanged 6.29% to settle at 0.02 and Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which gained 3.48% to close at 167.90.
The worst performers were Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which was down 5.42% to 13.26 in late trade, Valneva (EPA:VLS) which lost 4.69% to settle at 4.80 and Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTSA) which was down 4.30% to 8.01 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 342 to 171 and 100 ended unchanged.
Shares in Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.35% or 1.10 to 82.40. Shares in Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.34% or 0.27 to 11.08. Shares in Safran SA (EPA:SAF) rose to all time highs; up 1.21% or 2.00 to 167.48. Shares in Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) rose to 52-week highs; rising 0.98% or 0.44 to 44.84.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.09% or 1.75 to $1,995.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.84% or 2.74 to hit $68.58 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.70% or 2.81 to trade at $73.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 103.48.
