Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.25%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Food&Beverages and Retail sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.25%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.29%, and the TecDAX index added 0.79%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which rose 3.98% or 1.27 points to trade at 33.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) added 3.03% or 2.24 points to end at 76.08 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) was up 2.84% or 2.82 points to 101.96 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN), which fell 3.33% or 0.96 points to trade at 27.75 at the close. Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) declined 3.07% or 0.44 points to end at 13.88 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG) was down 2.19% or 1.90 points to 84.82.

The top performers on the MDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which rose 7.00% to 90.48, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was up 3.44% to settle at 52.65 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which gained 2.91% to close at 18.52.

The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was down 6.08% to 87.25 in late trade, Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which lost 4.58% to settle at 1.71 and Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which was down 4.26% to 61.80 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which rose 17.80% to 21.54, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was up 7.00% to settle at 90.48 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which gained 3.98% to close at 33.15.

The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was down 3.46% to 27.90 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which lost 2.55% to settle at 14.15 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was down 2.38% to 32.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 313 to 294 and 35 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.33% or 0.96 to 27.75. Shares in Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.00% or 5.92 to 90.48. Shares in Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) rose to 52-week highs; up 7.00% or 5.92 to 90.48. Shares in CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.38% or 0.78 to 32.00.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.30% to 13.36.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.28% or 5.75 to $2,045.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.80% or 2.07 to hit $75.93 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.71% or 2.15 to trade at $81.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 104.03.
