
Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Software, Retail and Media sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.58% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index climbed 1.17%, and the TecDAX index added 1.54%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 8.62% or 1.07 points to trade at 13.49 at the close. Meanwhile, SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) added 7.63% or 11.40 points to end at 160.76 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 3.50% or 0.93 points to 27.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG), which fell 1.63% or 2.20 points to trade at 132.40 at the close. Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) declined 1.31% or 1.95 points to end at 146.85 and Airbus Group SE (ETR:AIRG) was down 0.89% or 1.32 points to 146.74.
The top performers on the MDAX were Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which rose 8.33% to 29.90, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 5.45% to settle at 36.18 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which gained 3.97% to close at 74.34.
The worst performers were Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which was down 10.75% to 38.36 in late trade, Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which lost 2.58% to settle at 717.00 and Sixt SE (ETR:SIXG) which was down 2.03% to 91.70 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which rose 8.33% to 29.90, SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) which was up 7.63% to settle at 160.76 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which gained 6.23% to close at 34.93.
The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 5.39% to 19.75 in late trade, Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which lost 2.06% to settle at 76.20 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was down 0.70% to 39.74 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 400 to 229 and 23 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.73% to 13.05 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.41% or 8.35 to $2,017.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.75% or 1.30 to hit $75.67 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.31% or 1.04 to trade at $80.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.44% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 102.88.
