Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.70%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Software and Transportation&Logistics sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.70% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 1.79%, and the TecDAX index climbed 2.56%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which rose 5.56% or 2.05 points to trade at 38.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (ETR:HEIG) added 5.07% or 3.54 points to end at 73.40 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) was up 4.53% or 16.20 points to 373.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which fell 3.34% or 0.35 points to trade at 10.20 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p) declined 2.06% or 2.54 points to end at 120.96 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) was down 1.82% or 0.74 points to 39.86.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 13.19% to 35.02, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (ETR:PSMGn) which was up 8.34% to settle at 8.86 and Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which gained 8.07% to close at 38.02.

The worst performers were K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 3.06% to 17.29 in late trade, Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which lost 2.58% to settle at 15.28 and Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which was down 1.87% to 105.00 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 13.19% to 35.02, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which was up 5.56% to settle at 38.91 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which gained 4.53% to close at 373.80.

The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 7.61% to 26.59 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which lost 1.46% to settle at 2.43 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 1.34% to 88.30 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 450 to 203 and 91 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.25% to 14.71.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.12% or 22.05 to $1,948.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.07% or 1.63 to hit $80.41 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.65% or 1.36 to trade at $83.92 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.67% at 101.32.
