Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.39%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals&Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.39%, while the MDAX index declined 0.38%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.27%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which rose 1.04% or 0.26 points to trade at 25.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) added 1.01% or 2.20 points to end at 219.20 and Fresenius SE&Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was up 0.93% or 0.26 points to 28.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which fell 3.32% or 9.40 points to trade at 274.00 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) declined 3.11% or 1.38 points to end at 43.19 and Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) was down 3.02% or 0.99 points to 31.66.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 2.10% to 31.59, Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which was up 1.04% to settle at 126.80 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which gained 0.96% to close at 31.62.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 6.74% to 54.00 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 3.32% to settle at 25.66 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (ETR:PSMGn) which was down 3.29% to 5.71 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 5.61% to 17.80, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 2.10% to settle at 31.59 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which gained 1.34% to close at 37.84.

The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 6.74% to 54.00 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 3.32% to settle at 25.66 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 3.22% to 18.20 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 361 to 254 and 34 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.01% or 2.20 to 219.20. Shares in Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.02% or 0.99 to 31.66. Shares in Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.04% or 1.30 to 126.80.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.25% to 13.50.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 8.45 to $2,011.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.24% or 0.18 to hit $75.36 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.21 to trade at $80.27 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 103.27.
