
Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Transportation&Logistics and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.48%, while the MDAX index declined 0.30%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which rose 2.77% or 0.51 points to trade at 19.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) added 1.56% or 0.57 points to end at 37.00 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was up 1.20% or 0.43 points to 36.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which fell 5.16% or 14.30 points to trade at 262.80 at the close. Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) declined 2.22% or 1.66 points to end at 73.08 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) was down 1.75% or 0.71 points to 39.90.
The top performers on the MDAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which rose 5.41% to 6.50, Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was up 3.61% to settle at 96.15 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which gained 2.06% to close at 54.62.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 4.59% to 10.49 in late trade, Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which lost 2.59% to settle at 55.62 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 2.46% to 16.26 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which rose 2.97% to 16.27, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 1.56% to settle at 15.58 and Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which gained 1.36% to close at 37.18.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 5.78% to 101.00 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 4.59% to settle at 10.49 and Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 2.46% to 16.26 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 396 to 263 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.75% or 0.71 to 39.90. Shares in Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.61% or 3.35 to 96.15.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.51% to 18.39.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.38% or 7.70 to $1,996.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.80% or 0.62 to hit $76.45 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.92% or 0.74 to trade at $79.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.58% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 101.21.
