
Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Technology and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.49%, while the MDAX index fell 0.08%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE&Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG), which rose 2.08% or 0.58 points to trade at 28.44 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) added 1.68% or 0.67 points to end at 40.60 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn) was up 1.36% or 0.14 points to 10.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN), which fell 2.21% or 4.02 points to trade at 177.48 at the close. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) declined 2.11% or 4.50 points to end at 208.50 and Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p) was down 2.07% or 2.30 points to 108.70.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) which rose 9.45% to 89.75, Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which was up 5.48% to settle at 59.32 and Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which gained 3.00% to close at 10.11.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was down 2.47% to 136.30 in late trade, Duerr AG (ETR:DUEG) which lost 2.46% to settle at 27.70 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which was down 2.33% to 33.56 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which rose 0.86% to 76.05, United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was up 0.61% to settle at 13.29 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which gained 0.53% to close at 2.47.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 2.90% to 28.78 in late trade, Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which lost 2.04% to settle at 86.60 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was down 2.04% to 28.88 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 410 to 235 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hochtief AG (ETR:HOTG) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 9.45% or 7.75 to 89.75.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.68% to 15.69.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.28% or 5.55 to $1,969.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.83% or 0.66 to hit $78.97 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.66% or 0.55 to trade at $82.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 101.01.
