Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.49%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Retail, Construction and Media sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.49%, while the MDAX index lost 1.18%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.64%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG), which rose 1.15% or 0.84 points to trade at 73.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) added 0.92% or 3.50 points to end at 385.00 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) was up 0.79% or 0.09 points to 11.44 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE&Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG), which fell 3.34% or 0.93 points to trade at 26.95 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG) declined 2.82% or 3.90 points to end at 134.25 and Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) was down 2.77% or 0.51 points to 17.74.

The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which rose 2.27% to 26.55, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 2.04% to settle at 10.26 and Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which gained 1.59% to close at 64.00.

The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 6.89% to 22.15 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which lost 4.20% to settle at 12.53 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which was down 4.18% to 5.87 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 10.46% to 33.97, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was up 6.81% to settle at 38.28 and Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which gained 2.82% to close at 21.86.

The worst performers were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 8.37% to 21.23 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 2.76% to settle at 51.15 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was down 2.25% to 76.50 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 386 to 244 and 39 ended unchanged.

Shares in Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.77% or 0.51 to 17.74. Shares in Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) fell to all time lows; down 6.89% or 1.64 to 22.15. Shares in HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.20% or 0.55 to 12.53. Shares in Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.18% or 0.26 to 5.87. Shares in Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) fell to 3-years lows; down 8.37% or 1.94 to 21.23. Shares in SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.76% or 1.45 to 51.15.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.29% to 13.94.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.33% or 6.75 to $2,058.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.56% or 0.41 to hit $72.38 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.47% or 0.37 to trade at $77.92 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 102.32.
