
Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Technology and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.50%, while the MDAX index lost 0.33%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which rose 1.97% or 6.90 points to trade at 357.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) added 0.86% or 0.40 points to end at 46.80 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was up 0.69% or 0.15 points to 22.01 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dr Ing hc F Porsche AG Preferred (ETR:P911_p), which fell 1.55% or 1.46 points to trade at 92.96 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) declined 1.49% or 0.43 points to end at 28.07 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was down 1.47% or 0.26 points to 17.46.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) which rose 1.60% to 193.25, Scout24 AG (ETR:G24n) which was up 1.44% to settle at 47.23 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 1.25% to close at 117.30.
The worst performers were K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which was down 2.97% to 18.59 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which lost 2.24% to settle at 119.75 and Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which was down 1.69% to 61.15 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which rose 1.97% to 357.20, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was up 1.25% to settle at 117.30 and Qiagen NV (ETR:QIA) which gained 0.86% to close at 46.80.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 3.01% to 66.05 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which lost 2.75% to settle at 35.30 and Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 2.65% to 22.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 489 to 206 and 63 ended unchanged.
Shares in Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.65% or 0.60 to 22.05.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.39% to 20.67.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.38% or 6.95 to $1,816.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.21% or 0.96 to hit $78.57 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.33% or 1.13 to trade at $83.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 104.02.
