Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.54%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Construction, Software and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.54%, while the MDAX index declined 0.42%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.65%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG), which rose 1.96% or 0.19 points to trade at 9.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 1.27% or 3.20 points to end at 255.00 and Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) was up 1.26% or 2.60 points to 208.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn), which fell 6.89% or 12.60 points to trade at 170.15 at the close. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) declined 3.26% or 11.00 points to end at 326.80 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was down 3.03% or 5.00 points to 160.00.

The top performers on the MDAX were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which rose 8.18% to 32.01, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was up 3.61% to settle at 1.77 and Vitesco Technologies Group AG (ETR:VTSCn) which gained 1.47% to close at 76.15.

The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was down 6.34% to 104.90 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which lost 4.97% to settle at 58.18 and Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which was down 4.15% to 26.13 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which rose 3.61% to 1.77, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was up 1.76% to settle at 30.13 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which gained 1.40% to close at 18.80.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was down 4.97% to 58.18 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which lost 3.26% to settle at 326.80 and Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which was down 2.72% to 214.50 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 365 to 269 and 106 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.26% or 2.60 to 208.80. Shares in HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.18% or 2.42 to 32.01. Shares in Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.15% or 1.13 to 26.13.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.67% to 15.25.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.64% or 12.55 to $1,934.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.28% or 1.99 to hit $89.28 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.85% or 1.68 to trade at $92.32 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 104.39.
